Five Tokyo-based cable companies are being investigated by the Japan Fair Trade Commission over allegedly engaging in a cartel to fix prices of electrical cables. The five companies, Sumiden Hitachi Cable, Fujikura Dia Cable, SWCC Showa Cable Systems, Furukawa Elecom and Yazaki Corp. allegedly cooperated for five years to coordinate discounts in their cable pricing, a multi-billion dollar industry. According to a report by iStockAnalyst, all of the companies beside Furukawa confirmed the investigation.
