Affiliated Computer Services (ACS) has agreed to pay the $2.6 million to settle False Claims Act allegations. The company allegedly violated the civil False Claims Act by submitting inflated claims for payment between 2002-2005 for programs run by and through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), and the Administration for Children and Families of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (ACF).
Commentary: The penalties levied against ACS were relatively light as the company voluntarily self-reported to the government inappropriate conduct by several former employees.
